Dear Potential Puppy Owner,

Thank you for your interest in a Hurricane Chinook.  I've found Chinooks to be a wonderful addition to my household and hope you will find the same.  The enclosed information will tell you about Hurricane Chinooks.  If you are interested in a Hurricane Chinook, use the enclosed application to apply for a puppy out of the next litter.  Feel free to contact me at any time if you have questions.

I would like to tell you a little bit about myself and my Chinook breeding program.  I've been involved in Chinooks for 20 years.  In 1987, my first two Chinooks, Singing Woods Ayla and U.K.C. GR. CH. North Wind Kodiac, produced my first Hurricane Chinooks litter.  At that time, their litter increased the entire Chinook population by approximately 10 percent.  The next litter was born approximately 2 years later, out of Singing Woods Ayla and Hurricane Beowolf.  Since then there have been a number of Hurricane litters, including:

- U.K.C. GR. CH. 'PR' Romano's Tundra and U.K.C. GR. CH. North Wind Kodiac produced a litter early in 1995.  Two of their puppies attained U.K.C. Championship titles and one attained his U.K.C. Grand Championship title.

- U.K.C. GR. CH. 'PR' Romano's Tundra and U.K.C. GR. CH. Hurricane Mackenzie produced a litter in 1996.  Out of that litter, one has already attained her U.K.C. Championship and another attained her U.K.C. Grand Championship title, was recently awarded a U.K.C. Best in Show, and was the 1998 #1 Top Ten Chinook in U.K.C.

- U.K.C. GR. CH. 'PR' Hurricane Kniki and U.K.C. GR. CH. Hurricane Mackenzie produced a litter of two, in which both became U.K.C. champtions.  Those two puppies also have 'excellent' hips and CERF 'mornal'.

In addition to raising my Chinooks, I've been an active member of the Montgomery Area Dog Obedience Club and the Chinook Owners Association, Inc. (COA).  Also, Tundra finished Search and Rescue training, making her the first Chinook to be a working Search and Rescue Dog   We also completed her U-CD, making her the first Chinook to be a U.K.C. Total Dog.

I hope you will take time to look through the enclosed package of information about this upcoming litter.  Each puppy from future litters will cost $875.00 plus OFA hip X-rays and a CERF eye exam at age 2 years.  For breeding potential or showing potential Chinooks, I require one or two puppies back, depending upon the individual contract, when they are bred.  On the other hand, you must spay or neuter pet quality puppies as a completion requirement of a contract for a pet quality puppy.  If you are interested in applying for a puppy, please:

1.  Read the entire package, paying particular attention to the parents' biographies and any health or performance information that may be predictive of what a puppy in this litter may be like.

2.  Fill out the enclosed multi-page application as completely as possible.  Please make sure you read each one of the parents' biographies in the package.

3.  Go to the COA Breeder's page, print off the COA Code of Ethics, read it, sign it, and enclose it with your application.

4.  Return the signed application and a signed copy of the COA Code of Ethics with a check for $50.00. This application fee is non-refundable.  However, it will be applied to the cost of your puppy. In addition, I will refund your application fee if a puppy is not available for you.

If you have any questions, I encourage you to ask them while you are deciding if a Hurricane Chinook from this litter is right for you.  As you request, I will be glad to provide any additional information you need.

While using the enclosed package, please respect the fact that all material in this package is for the specific use of the prospective family.  I request it not be distributed to the general public.  You may use it to consult with veterinary specialists, geneticists, other breeders and friends to help you determine the suitability of a Hurricane Chinook for you.  Getting a Hurricane Chinook puppy can mean a 10- to 14-year commitment.  I've provided the enclosed information to help you make the best choice you can.  If you wish to see the litter's parents, or just want to come and visit, please contact me so we can coordinate our schedules.  You are always welcome.

Again, thank you very much for considering a Hurricane Chinook to become part of your family.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Joyce A. Maley
