TERMS OF AGREEMENT
OWNERSHIP
AND POSSESSION
1. The above Chinook, Hurricane number NDRHC ____, will be in the care and possession of the above buyer, and co-owned between the buyer and the breeder until the financial contract is complete, on the following terms.
2. The buyers will make a total payment of $875.00 before they take possession of Hurricane number NDRHC ____.
3. In addition to this payment the buyer agrees to spay/neuter this puppy before it reaches 1 year of age. My opinion is that you should spay/neuter your Chinook before 6 months of age, but you should rely upon the advice of your veterinarian. Upon the fulfillment of this obligation, the financial contract is complete.
IRRESPONSIBLE
PET OWNERSHIP
4. The buyers agree they will ensure their Chinook is not accidentally bred. This can easily be done by spaying/neutering the Chinook before it is 6 months of age. If in fact puppies are born from a breeding of this Chinook, the buyer agrees to spay or neuter every puppy before they leave the litter. This is to ensure the puppies can never be bred, thereby contributing to the unwanted pet overpopulation problem. They further agree to place the resulting puppies in good homes and not turn the litter over to the pound or other placement service for unwanted pets. Each time this portion of the contract is violated, the owner agrees to pay $3000.00 to the breeder. After the breeder recovers any expenses incurred from recovering this money, the remainder will be split equally between the COA, Inc. to aid in promoting responsible breeding programs and practices, and to Pet-find, Inc. Indianapolis, IN, (or other humane organization selected by the breeder) to pay for the rescue of homeless animals.
5. If the buyers fail to spay/neuter their Chinook by 1 year of age, without prior written permission of the breeder, they will make a one-time payment of $3000.00 to the breeder.
HEALTH
AND CARE OBLIGATIONS
6. The buyers agree to get OFA hip X-rays (anesthesia not required) and CERF eye certification on their Chinook at or after 24 months of age and before 36 months of age. This is to help the breeder continue to breed healthy pets and help in the health study of the entire Chinook breed.
7. The buyers further agree that, if for any reason whatsoever they must give up their Chinook, they will inform Joyce A. Maley and return it to her if a new, mutually agreed upon home cannot be found. If the breeder cannot be contacted, the owners will turn the Chinook over to the Chinook Owners Association, Inc., the U.K.C. National Breed Club, for rescue placement. The buyers promise to never place their Chinook in the custody of a humane society, animal pound or other rescue organization, or have it put down simply as a convenience.
8. If the above Chinook should die, due to negligence, the buyer will donate $500.00 to the COA to promote responsible pet ownership. Upon death, a veterinarian must examine the Chinook and send cause of death to the breeder. Examples of negligence would include: Continually letting the dog run free where it could be struck by a car; not taking the dog to a veterinarian when it is showing sign of illness; not following a veterinarian approved vaccination schedule; not feeding proper food and giving fresh water; letting the dog get infested with parasites so heavily as to cause its death.
9. The buyers must understand that they will incur expenses in both time and money. In addition to yearly shots and feed, this puppy will need life-long care and concern for its well-being.
OTHER
10. Any deviation from this contract must have the concurrence, in writing, of both the buyer(s) and the breeder.
11. I ask the buyer(s) to maintain membership with the Chinook Owners Association, Inc., the U.K.C. National Breed Club, throughout the lifetime of their Chinook.
* The new owners will name their Chinook using the following guidelines:
Official registration names are traditionally made up of two parts: the first part of the Chinook's name is the
name of the kennel that owned the dam (mother), and the rest is the name that
the owner has chosen to name the Chinook.
For example, Hurricane Chaser's name represents that the dam, at the
time the litter was born, belonged to Hurricane Chinooks and the new owner
chose to name her Chaser. Therefore the
first part of a puppy's name will always be the same as its littermates.
The first part of your Chinook's name
will be Hurricane. When you have named
your Chinook, please report that name to me immediately so I can complete the
litter registration with U.K.C. When
the litter registration is complete I will send you the completed puppy
registration for your Chinook.
Thank you for being a part of Hurricane Chinooks.
Sincerely,
Joyce A. Maley
We have read, understand and agree to abide by the above contract.
